The expansion of APQP is “Advanced Product Quality Planning”.

Advanced Product Quality Planning is a structured method of defining and establishing the steps necessary to assure that a product satisfies the customer. The goal of product quality planning is to facilitate communication with everyone involved to assure that all required steps are completed on time.

Manufacturing industries can use APQP methods to manage and improve their Product Development Process. This method can be applied for new products as well as current products under production.

Reference Manual developed by AIAG specifies methods for APQP.
